Bing SEO

Welcome to Bing SEO from SEO Freelance. This site will continually review Bing against the other search engines and make recommendations on how to get to the top of Bing. We'll also run through some of the key blog sites and see if we can summarise what's going on

But Its Not Google

So if your Google SEO is doing quite well but the mighty Bill Gates and his But It's Not Google search engine are ignoring you this is the site to come to. We'll be scanning the SEO blogs and making our own calculations and then letting you know what to do

Bing SEO The Basics

  • Bing is new so there are a lot of tweaks to the algorithms. What works today may not be right tomorrow.
  • If you think your site is not listed you can submit directly to Bing at this address www.bing.com/docs/submit.aspx
  • If your website is brand new Bing seems to be a little slower than Google and Yahoo to recognise its content. Patience is a virtue! To speed things up try registering an XML sitemap with Bing webmaster tools. Domain age seems to be a key factor which unfortunately is out of your control
  • As with all SEO the two main factors are content and third party links. However, Bing seems to place more emphasis on domain name, and loves keywords in titles. But don't repeat in the title. Make sure you use plenty of copy on your home page with about 300 words as a target. Bing may prefer capitalised keywords.
  • The key difference between Bing and MSN Live seems to be third party link quality. Google and Yahoo used to be better at telling a cheap directory link from an industry page recommendation. Bing may be catching up up!
  • As with all search engines page title is very important. Bing may also be more interested in the metatag 'description' than other search engines
  • Bing seems to prefer larger sites
